Abstract
Training School on school enrollment one year after release. It is based on a sample of 177 Hartford students released from a secure placement between September 2001 and December 2003. The primary findings of this study suggest that juveniles released from CJTS did not have better enrollment rate in school than those leaving Detention and Corrections. Seventeen-year-olds had the highest age enrollment, and Hispanics males leaving CJTS had a higher rate than African-American males. School grade or special education designation were not significant predictors for positive school enrollment for juveniles released from CJTS. Implications of the findings, as well as suggestions for future research are discussed.
